Trail Riders of Ladysmith

About TROL

Trail Riders of Ladysmith Society, or TROL, formed in 2026 out of a group of local trail enthusiasts with one common goal: “How do we get visitors to our town to talk about the trails as much as they talk about the cinnamon buns?”

Our Mission

Grow and foster a mountain biking community with a unique, fun, safe, and well-managed trail network to explore, and advocate for responsible land use and environmental conservation.

Our Vision

A bike destination defined by world-class trail building, where people explore the forests, community, and history around Ladysmith.

Our Values

Experience, Conservation, Stewardship, Growing the Sport, Inclusivity, and Community Focus.

TROL is in the process of registering as a non-profit society. Our purposes are:

  • To unite and grow the local cycling community by organizing inclusive events, programs, and initiatives related to trail use and mountain biking that foster community engagement and promote participation in mountain biking and outdoor recreation as healthy, accessible activities.
  • To build, maintain, and manage a sustainable, multi-use trail network primarily for mountain biking in the Ladysmith area, promoting safe, responsible land use and environmental conservation.
  • To represent and promote the interests of the mountain biking community by working with stakeholders to ensure access to the trails.
  • To raise funds, collect membership fees, and sell promotional merchandise to generate revenue exclusively for the operational costs, trail maintenance, and community initiatives of the Society.

The trails surrounding Ladysmith are located on private lands owned by Mosaic Forest Management, the Town of Ladysmith, and Stz'uminus First Nation.
